CONVENTIONS HANDBOOK - The Convention Handbook offers information on five chemical conventions (Waigani, Bamako, Basel, Rotterdam & Stockholm) and their common elements with an aim to support the environmentally sound management of toxic chemicals and hazardous waste in the small island states. For each Convention there is general description, an explanation of the obligations and the tools for implementations. For both Waigani and Bamako, there is a description of each of the individual articles. Each Convention has its own reference section and there is also a general electronic library.

ALLIANCE FOR A CLEAN ENVIRONMENT (ACE) - The Alliance for a Clean Environment was originally formed in 1996 to oppose the establishment of a fifth Brickworks in Perth's Swan Valley region. Backed by the community, ACE mounted a strong campaign to halt the development that was eventually taken to the West Australia Supreme Court. The Full Bench of the Supreme Court unanimously upheld the community's argument and the proposal was rejected. Since then ACE has become a strong advocate for the community on matters of air quality and environmental health and justice in this region and for the State of WA.
