Toxic chemical pollution pervades many aspects of everyday life, causing damage to our health and the natural environment. Every email or letter helps! Send one of our form letters to the appropriate person.

RE: CHILDREN'S HEALTH & CHLORPYRIFOS

Chlorpyrifos is a neurotoxic pesticide and termite treatment, recently banned for domestic use in the US. When this chemical is also found in nearly 60% of the new-born babies and a 100% of preschoolers in Australia, it is clearly evident that its ongoing use here is totally unacceptable.

Children are our most valuable resource. Protecting their health, particularly their nervous systems, from environmental toxic overload must surely be a priority.

RE: MULTIPLE CHEMICAL SENSITIVITY & HEALTH POLICY

Australian health policy does not reflect the needs of the 15-30% of the population who are disabled by MCS. It is important that hospital personnel and health care providers are familiar with MCS so that care can be balanced between what is life-saving and appropriate versus what can actually produce more harm to the patient.

RE: MULTIPLE CHEMICAL SENSITIVITY & HUMAN RIGHTS

In Queensland, ASEHA is encouraging MCS sufferers to use the processes of the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission and the Disability Discrimination Act to pursue redress of grievances.

RE: PERSISTENT ORGANIC POLLUTION

The POPs Convention came into force this year, on 17th May 2004. The parties are now required to minimize and where feasible, eliminate their emissions of persistent organic pollutants. POPs are dangerous intergenerational poisons, passing from mother to foetus in the womb - 'poisons without passports', capable of travelling thousands of miles, persisting for decades and contaminating the air we breathe and the food we eat. This letter calls for a proactive approach, that is strongly protective of public health and the environment.

RE: TOXIN INDUCED DISEASE IN THE COMMUNITY

Because of the explosion of man made substances in food, water, air, furnishings, disinfectants, toiletries, cosmetics and other consumer products, we are experiencing elevations in exposures that are causing much pain and suffering in the form of diseases such as allergy, asthma, heart disease, cancer and others. This letter calls for a whole of government approach to the matter.
